Plot summary: The poem of Erkenwald's miracle, written during the reign of Richard II, is regarded as the best Sait's legend in the English language. Clearing the site of a Roman temple, workmen uncover a sarcophagus covered in strange writing that no one can read - Bishop Erkenwald is called to uncover the mystery.
