Reviews:
Know the nose, know the man. That’s been the rule with productions of Rostand’s great romance in recent years. The poetic Cyranos — Jacobi, Petherbridge, Keith Michell — have tended to have hooters rather too much like graceful children’s slides or consumer-friendly ski-runs. The warrior Cyranos — Sher, Lindsay, Rea, Tom Mannion for the Scots company Communicado — have gone in for ugly beaks, scary arrowheads, bloated parsnips or, in the last case, an offputting blend of bagpipe, haggis and caber.
