Plot summary: The comedy is set in respectable Cheltenham, where, in the respectable home of the local member of Parliament, a crisis is cause when the daughter of the family announces the publication of "Bare Bosom'd Night", her first novel, which is certain to be a best-seller. This causes a stir, especially when some of the friends and neighbours suspect they can see themselves in the book.
