Plot summary: Viola is separated from her near-identical twin Sebastian and shipwrecked on the coast of Illyria. There she dresses up as a boy and becomes the Duke’s favourite page. The Duke is in love with the beautiful Countess Olivia who rejects him because she is still in mourning for her brother. The Duke sends Viola to court the Countess on his behalf, but Olivia falls in love with the supposed page instead. Then things get complicated as Sebastian arrives in Illyria.
